Our donations go to food banks or families brought to our attention by donors. We, also,
spend our donations mainly in the state where the donor lives.
April 19th thru Memorial Day 2010 - "Help Our
Hungry Heroes" Food Drive
1st annual "Help Our Hungry Heroes" food drive. This 6 week effort beginning in mid April and
ending on Memorial Day in May. We will be assisting the families of
soldiers who have given their lives for our country as well as
families of those soldiers deployed that are struggling with food
security! Donate your $5.00 today!!!
As of December 2009 the
USDA calculates the average cost
of a nutritional low cost meal for an average adult male to be
$2.40 and $2.10 for an average adult female. Children's meal cost
range from $1.25 to $2.40 depending on age and gender.
Past Accomplishments
March 2010
- $800.00 donated during our 1st Annual "Spring for an Easter Meal" food drive.
- $200.00 Eight $25.00 supermarket gift cards were sent to the Hanson Senior Center
to assist families in Hanson, MA.
- Three $200.00 checks were sent to foodbanks in AZ, ME and GA. The Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank in Phoenix, AZ -
The Oxford Hills Food Pantry in Sumner, ME and the Griffin Food Pantry in Griffin, GA.
February 2010
- $100.00 to the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program is Somerville, NJ.
The gift was in the form of $100.00 worth of canned meats along with a
few styrofoam cups and some dish detergent.
- Four $25.00 supermarket gift cards were sent to the Foxboro
Discretionary Fund to assist four needy families in Foxboro, MA.
- $200.00 Ten $20.00 supermarket gift cards as Random Acts of Kindness to people going into a local foodbank- NJ.
January 2010
- Donated 10 winter coats with gloves, hats and scarves to the Ozanam Family Shelter in Edison, NJ.
While the majority of our efforts are geared toward feeding the hungry in the US.
However, with the extreme cold blanketing most of the country we decided to use some
of the movement’s donations toward warmth this month.
- We provided two $50.00 supermarket gift cards to
families brought to our attention by donors. One family in MA and one in FLA.
- $100.00 to Food Bank Network of Somerset in Bridgewater, NJ.
The donation was in the form of $100.00 worth of 10 for $10.00 sale items from a
local grocery store.
December 2009
- Held a kick off meeting to introduce friends to the Pennies Can Change concept
on December 5, 2009.
- Raised $400.00 in December. However we did not
donate to any food banks during December. After speaking with friends and family it was decided that since so many
charities were in full swing in December, we would wait until after the holidays to help the food banks
replenish their supplies.
November 2009
- $100.00 check delivered to Meals on Wheels - Princeton, NJ
- $100.00 check delivered to Franklin Township Food Bank - Franklin, NJ
- $100.00 check delivered to Salvation Army - NJ
- $300.00 Fifteen $20.00 supermarket gift cards as Random Acts of Kindness - NJ
