Pennies Can Change ...

It Just Takes Cents To Make A Difference

Here It Comes

The Pennies Can Change movement is just beginning.

The Concept: To create an online giving community to help feed the hungry in America by encouraging many people to give a little money to help many people.
The Challenge: To get one million people to donate a minimum of one penny a day for a year ($3.65).
The Goal: To donate $200.00 in supermarket gift cards to at least 10 food pantries in each of the 50 U.S. states in the first year of operation, 2010. Delivering a message of hope to people in their time of need. Top

Why Does It Work?

  • Pay It Forward/Random Acts of Kindness: Join the movement of Pennies Can Change. The movement will be a combination of Pay It Forward and Random Acts of Kindness. After sharing your gift with us, we will then share it with others through a random act of kindness. In return we ask the receiver to pay it forward by visiting the site themselves to leave a testimonial in our guestbook or our blog. We, also, ask them the word of the movement amongst their network friends and family.
  • User Interactive Site: By including surveys to decide where the money goes, a guestbook for sharing reactions and an update page showing how the money is spent(monthly newsletter coming) this site encourages user participation.
  • Small Amount From Many: By offering a manageable gift request that allows many people to participate. Teachers could follow with students or parents can follow with kids
  • People Like To Help: Everyone knows someone who could use some help. The people who received assistance or organizations that receive donations know people, too. All groups are needed to spread the word of the work being done on this site. This allows the site to grow. Top

How Does It Work?

Changing lives is not difficult if given the right resources. The resources in this case come from caring individuals, like yourself, who share the gift of a penny($3.65), a nickel($18.25), a dime($36.50) a day for a year or an amount of their choice. These monies will be used to help real people with real issues. People who are out of work, without a home, hungry people, cold people and people who find themselves in bad situations created by circumstances beyond their control. If our country's current situation has proven anything it is that you never know when you might be the person in need. Top

Is This a Non-Profit?

The short answer is YES!.

The long answer is Pennies Can Change is an incorporated non-profit. We are still waiting for approval of our 501(c)3 status. I can not guarantee any money donated in 2010 will be tax deductible for the tax year 2010. However, the chances that we are not approved are very slim and the approval will be dated back to the date of our incorporation, which is February 2, 2010. Top

Pennies Can Change What?

Pennies can change peoples lives. Pennies can change how people see the world, both the givers and the receivers. They can change into nickels, quarters and even dollars if enough people care. In this time of economic despair in our country, people need a sign of hope. Pennies can change that despair into hope. Some changes will last for minutes, some for years and some will last forever. That's what will make this opportunity and journey so much fun. Be a part of the Pennies Can Change movement! Top
