    Not Only During the Holidays

Food Banks, Shelters and Soup Kitchens operate year round and families run into food security issues all year, too. In doing research by cold calling, visiting and reading online material Pennies Can Change has realized that many food banks and shelters are in need of food especially in the spring and summer months. There are always families in need for many reasons: family member deployed to war, fires, natural disasters, laid off from jobs, etc... We need your help identifying needy families to assist. Send us an email, we keep everything confidential within Pennies Can Change, if you or someone you know could use some help.

Replenishing food banks and shelters as well as assisting needy families is a year round opportunity to help. Awareness is the key to preventing hunger in the United States. Food security is at the highest measured levels since figures began being recorded in 1995. As stated above, the figures I'm using are from the year 2008 and we all know that in 2009 our economy was even worse than 2008. As of December 2009 the USDA calculates the average cost of a nutritional low cost meal for an average adult male to be $2.40 and $2.10 for an average adult female. You can do your part in helping by donating a meal or two today! Top
